When the application is updated, the functionality of an entity may need to be updated. A new entity with a different name can be created. In this case, the original entity is marked as obsolete. You can no longer add obsolete entities to a new project or data model. This feature improves user productivity because customers can define the standard user experience by legal entities with views. This feature also reduces the complexity of selecting views by displaying only those views that are relevant to the user`s current legal entity. If you use multiple legal entities, it may be useful to share data from standard tables or new custom tables with general information. When the configuration is complete, select Copy to Legal Entity to start the import. The copy process exports data from the originating legal entity to the target legal entity. Each target lawyer has their own import data project. You can monitor the results on the Execution Summary page that appears. All import projects related to the Copy to Legal Entity project appear in a list on the left side of the page.

Add the entities that represent the information you want to export. You can add entities using several methods: Data entities provide conceptual abstraction and encapsulation of the underlying table schema, which represents the concepts and functionality of the data. In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, most tables, such as the customer and supplier tables, have been denormalized and divided into multiple tables. This has been beneficial from a database design perspective, but has made it difficult for implementers and ISVs to use without a thorough understanding of the physical schema. Data entities were introduced as part of data management to be used as an abstraction layer to make them easy to understand using business concepts. In previous versions, there were several ways to manage data, such as Microsoft Excel, AIF, and DIXF add-ins. The concept of data entities combines these different concepts into one. Once the data entities are created, you should be able to reuse them for Excel add-ins, import/export, or integration. The following table lists the main data management scenarios. In the Dashboard Image section, view or edit the dashboard logo and image associated with the legal entity. On the Foreign trade and logistics FastTab, enter the shipping information for the legal entity. This transit information shall also include Intrastat information.

Import is the process of retrieving data into a system using data entities. The import process is performed from the Import tile in the Data Management workspace. Data can be imported either for individual entities or for a group of logically related entities sequenced in the correct order. File formats vary depending on the type of import. An entity can be an Excel file separated by commas, tabs, or text. For a data packet, it is a .zip file. In both cases, the files are exported using the export process mentioned above. On the Legal entities FastTab, you can target existing legal entities or create new legal entities: To copy a configuration from one legal entity to another legal entity in the same instance, follow these steps. A company is a unique identifier for the data associated with the legal entity. A company can only be associated with one legal entity, and a legal entity can only be associated with one company. For more information about fields that are not described in this topic, press F1 on the Legal Entities form.

When working with data entities, an entity is automatically mapped to a source. Automatic field assignment can be overwritten if necessary. Otherwise, select the legal entity from the list, click Change Name, and then type the new name. Data entities do not support Extensible Data Security (XDS) concepts. Currently, several entities require additional steps when you create configurations. Follow these recommendations when creating your configurations. Select the legal entity that you want to use as the source of the data you want to copy. By default, the legal entity you are currently using is selected. On the Number sequences FastTab, you can view the number sequences associated with the legal entity.

To change this information, use the Number Sequence screen. (Click Organization Management > General > sequences > sequences.) Enter a search name if a search name is required. A search name is another name that can be used to search for that legal entity using enterprise search.
